Fun at The Fox – Our Engagement Party

Kirst and Tom at The FoxDespite the rain and wind a few weekends ago, nothing could have stopped Tom and I from enjoying our engagement party – it was the best night ever! We loved sharing such a special night with our family and friends and our venue was a big part of making it all go off without a hitch.

So now I’m going to tell you all about it!

When we got engaged in June, we decided that we wanted to celebrate as soon as we could but let me tell you, finding a venue in Brisbane was not easy. Unfortunately, many of the places we (cough*I*) enquired about simply couldn’t offer what we were looking for.

We wanted a fun space with a bit of character and good food – without having to spend a small fortune. What we were constantly met with were overpriced venue hire fees, average food, spaces with no soul and ridiculous ‘minimum spends’.

With about 85 guests and a clear budget in mind, I had all but given up on finding a venue when I looked into The Fox Hotel. I had seen pictures of their function rooms online and one Sunday on a whim, Tom and I dropped in to view the Verandah Room, thankfully we both loved it! And how could you not? Just look at it! All bright botanical style printed wallpaper, multi-coloured furniture, a private bar and bathrooms and a whole range of quirky bird paintings and ornaments. We paid the deposit the next day and over the following weeks we organised our bar tab and ordered our food from their scrumptious menu (think sushi platters, lamb chops and thai chicken currys).

There were so many options for us to choose from for food it made it hard but everyone on the night remarked at just how great it all was – people are still talking about it in fact! I’m honestly not sure if the functions food is a different menu to the regular menu’s throughout the Fox but it really was delicious and there were decent Gluten Free and Vegetarian options too.

Ash and Georgia at The Fox could not have been more helpful in the lead up to our party and the staff at the Fox on the night were all friendly and professional. This made it easy for us and our guests to simply relax and enjoy ourselves…and enjoy ourselves we did, finishing up our evening at Dandy’s Rooftop Bar before moving venues in the early hours of the morning.

I would highly recommend The Fox Hotel to anyone looking to hold a casual and fun event or function. It’s got great decor, fantastic food and excellent service plus it’s super easy to get to and from with buses, trains, and taxis super close by so you can arrive in ease and continue your night in West End, The City or Southbank.  They also have a range of other function rooms so whether  you’re looking for a venue for a small group or for a medium-sized or much larger function they have something special on offer.
