The Weekly G&T

It has been a big week and it will be an even bigger weekend. This Saturday we have a big day of blog-related fun (see next week’s posts for details) and on Saturday night we’re attending a friend’s 30th birthday party that has a ‘Marvel vs. DC’ theme! Should make for some spectacular photos. But today is a day to chill out and relax before the craziness of the weekend begins. Here’s our Weekly G&T…

  • Truck In and Tuck In food-truck fest is on tonight on Bridge St, Fortitude Valley from 5pm.
  • A good friend of mine is hosting an Oxfam Trivia Night this Saturday 18 October at 6pm at Kuripla Hall, West End. Tickets are $25 and it is a great cause.
  • The Brisbane Good Food and Wine Show opens today and runs through to Sunday at the Convention Centre. We’ll be there bright and early tomorrow.
  • True every Friday.
  • One of our favourites, Botanica Real Food in Red Hill, are about to start doing breakfasts! Available from this Wednesday 22 October and only take-away, we cannot wait to try what these salad-crafters extraordinaire serve up for breakfast.
  • The Map/Weekend Edition Eat, Drink Awards are open for nominations.
  • Undressed Runways, an outstanding sustainable fashion project have just launched their online shop.
  • James Street Resort – the latest iteration of their street festivals – is on from 23-25 October.  The street will be alive with presentations, food, fashion and beautiful people, see the program here. The big party will be the Friday night with Resort After Dark.
  • If you do nothing else this weekend, take yourself out for  a walk around our beautiful city. With the jacarandas in flower, Brisbane is at her best. Why not try out the re-opened Riverwalk?
  • Forever 21 opened on the Queen Street Mall yesterday, the brand’s first Australian store.
  • Finally, a town in Tunisia invited 150 street artists from 30 countries to create murals on the walls of the town. The results are spectacular.
